James St. Jean leads global technology, innovation and product engineering at Meltwater. Jim is focused on building a world-class software development organization that leverages the diverse talents of the company’s engineers across six development centers worldwide. Jim comes to Meltwater from the acquisition of JitterJam in 2011, where he was previously CTO. Following the acquisition, Jim integrated the JitterJam and Meltwater Buzz products and unified the social media product teams before stepping into his current global technology role.

Jim is based in New Hampshire, USA, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Jim enjoys the peace, outdoors and independence of life in the Granite State, which is best represented by the state’s motto: “Live Free or Die.”

Work
Jim is a repeat entrepreneur who has worked in the CRM and marketing sector for the past 18 years at a variety of startups and public software companies. During that time, he built and delivered enterprise applications to some of the largest consumer companies in the world. Jim was previously a senior executive at Chordiant Software Inc., a public CRM company, where he worked for 8 years in a variety of roles including Chief Technology Officer and VP, Worlwide Engineering. In addition to founding or co-founding three software start-ups, Jim was also VP and Chief Architect for the Vantive Corporation, a leading CRM company that was acquired by PeopleSoft in 1997.
School
Trained as a computer scientist with a minor in philosophy, Jim holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire with additional post-graduate studies at Boston University.
